Impact/Purpose:
Update presentation to the National Blue Ribbon Commission for Onsite Non-potable Water Systems (NBRC) describing new pathogen log-reduction targets (LRTs) for onsite water reuse. The updated draft LRTs reflect the state-of-the-science on source water pathogen characterizations and their respective dose-response. Importantly, the update includes LRTs based on a disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) metric in addition to the traditional infection endpoint, incorporating the health impact of those infections in risk estimates. The NBRC will consider whether to include the new LRTs in its forthcoming guidance documents.
